Support and Resources for Parents

We offer a Parent’s Dinner every Tuesday night at 6:30pm in Room 4433 on the 4th floor near the Welcome Desk. The Parent’s Dinner was started by a parent, Susan Ellison, who’s son had cancer. She understands, more than anyone, that having a teenager or young adult in the hospital can be difficult. Sometimes, something as simple as a home-cooked meal and fellowship with other parents going through a similar experience can be helpful.  Please join us!

You may contact Susan Ellison at 352-284-6713 or the Streetlight Office at 352-273-9596 for more information.

If you aren’t able to make it to the dinner, we know parents who have children that have been through chemotherapy, transplants, or other chronic illnesses that are willing to talk with other parents about their questions or concerns. Please contact the Director of Streetlight, Rebecca Brown, if you have an interest in talking to someone.

You are also invited to become a fan of Streetlight on Facebook. Learn more about what we’re doing and interact with Streetlight Team members there. And we can recommend websites that are helpful for parents of teenagers. Just ask!
