Meet Rosie!

Rosie the Therapy Dog, a part of the Shands at UF Shands Children's Hosptial Child Life Program.ROSIE is a six year old golden retriever. She is a Certified Therapy Dog and holds an AKC Good Canine Citizen Certificate. She has made more than 200 visits to nursing homes and Shands hospitals over the past several years. During her hospital visits she sees many different patients as well as family and staff members who find it comforting and relaxing to pet this very friendly and affectionate dog.

Rosie now makes regular visits to Shands at UF. She is exceptionally good with children and is often seen with a child's arms around her. Her owner and handler is Don Sheppard of High Springs who is also beginning pet therapy visits with Rosie's "sister", a one-year-old Golden named EmmyLou.
