UF cardiovascular surgeons at Shands Transplant Center performed their first heart transplant in 1985. Since then, the heart transplant team has performed more than 550 heart transplants.

The program offers a full range of cardiac transplantation for children and adults. The pediatric heart transplant program includes neonatal, newborn and infant heart transplants.
