Summer VolunTEEN Program

Shands at UF Volunteer Services will offer three (3) sessions for high school students ages 14-17. Each session is a total of three weeks, and the dates are as follows. VolunTEENs may only volunteer for one session, due to the significant interest in the program.

Session I: Monday, June 18th – July 5th

Session II: Monday, July 9th – July 26th

Session III: Monday, July 30th – August 16th

The VolunTEEN should plan to volunteer twice a week on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 9:00am – 4:00pm. Lunch break is from 12:00pm-1:00pm and VolunTEENs must provide their own lunch and transportation. During their assigned session, VolunTEENs can expect to accomplish approximately 40 hours of volunteer service.

The VolunTEEN is allowed one (1) absence during their three week session. Fridays are available to a VolunTEEN who needs to make up an absence, if necessary.

Application
Application packets will be available on Monday, March 5th. The VolunTEEN application is available as a PDF Download:

Program information is outlined in the application packet. The packet also includes information about required immunizations, a TB Surveillance Form, and Volunteer Service Record. These forms are required in order to be cleared by Shands Occupational Health.

Acceptance
Acceptance into the Summer VolunTEEN Program is based on availability and receipt of completed application packet.

Acceptance letters will be EMAILED to the VolunTEEN applicant and parent by the end of May. This letter will include the assigned session, schedule, assignments, and date of group placement interview.

Dress Code
Official VolunTEEN t-shirt, badge, and khaki trousers, and closed toed shoes are required. No shorts, capris, jeans, skirts or leggings allowed.

VolunTEEN I.D. badges will be provided and must be worn at all times.

VolunTEENs will be given a t-shirt during their group placement interview. These shirts are provided by the Shands at UF Auxiliary.
