The Shands Cancer Hospital opened in November 2009. The 500,000-square-foot Shands Cancer Hospital includes 192 private rooms for a variety of inpatients, including those receiving diagnostic and therapeutic oncology services. The facility also includes the state-of-the-art Shands Critical Care Center. It houses both emergency and trauma-related services including north central Florida’s only Level I Trauma Center. Experts can treat up to 100,000 emergency patients a year.
