Quality Improvement
All Shands HealthCare facilities are committed to continually improving the quality of care for
our patients.
Methods
The following methodologies are used to measure performance and to identify and act
on opportunities for improvement:
- IMPACT CARE
IMPACT CARE is a performance measurement
tool that helps clinical and non-clinical departments monitor performance. This is a tool
that supplements and supports our quality improvement efforts.
- FADE²
FADE² is an acronym for the five
phases a Quality Improvement team works through to solve problems and improve processes at
Shands HealthCare. FADE²stands for: Focus,
Analyze, Develop, Execute, and Evaluate.
- FMEA
Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a systematic method of identifying and preventing
product and process problems before they occur.
Initiatives
- 5 Million Lives campaign
Although the official Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) campaign is over, work continues to improve clinical care processes within Shands hospitals to reduce harm, such as adverse drug events and surgical complications.
